About the course

Course Overview

AP Chemistry provides students with a comprehensive study of the essential principles governing chemical reactions, matter, and the physical properties that define chemical behavior. Covering topics like atomic structure, molecular composition, chemical bonding, thermodynamics, equilibrium, acids and bases, and kinetics, the course emphasizes a balance of theoretical knowledge and practical application. Students engage in hands-on labs and data-driven experiments to observe chemical interactions firsthand, using these experiences to model and predict real-world chemical phenomena.

Throughout the course, students hone their analytical skills by interpreting data, solving complex problems, and evaluating lab results to strengthen their understanding of chemistry’s role in everyday life. With an emphasis on college-level rigor, the curriculum prepares students for the AP Exam in May, offering them the chance to earn college credit and build a strong foundation for further studies in fields like chemistry, biology, environmental science, and engineering. This course is ideal for students interested in STEM, as it provides the critical thinking skills, scientific reasoning, and lab techniques essential for success in advanced academic and professional settings.

This course has been authorized by the College Board® to use the AP designation.
