Middle school and AP students get 10 months for full courses and 5 months for semester courses. Part-time credit recovery / summer school students get 6 months per course. Adult diploma students get 12 months per full course (6 per semester course). A two-month extension is available on every program for an additional fee.

Unlike a Texas public school district, Excel High School Texas is a private, tuition-supported online school. We don't receive state or federal funding, so tuition pays for the platform, licensed instructors, curriculum, transcripts, and support services. To keep things accessible, we keep tuition low and offer interest-free monthly payment plans.

Standard diploma students complete 4 English credits, 3 math, 3 science, 3.5 social studies, and 8 electives. College-bound and honors students typically complete 4 English, 4 math, 3–4 science, 3.5–4 social studies, 2 foreign language, and 6 electives. Adult students may transfer up to 75% of their credits and complete the remaining required credits at Excel.

How fast can a student graduate?

High school students can move to the next grade level as soon as they finish the current grade's coursework and tuition is paid through that level. Motivated students with strong test scores can graduate as early as age 16. Adult students using the fast-track transfer option often finish in 9–12 months.

Excel does not issue a GED. We do offer GED test-prep coursework, and we accept previously earned GED scores toward high school credit. Many students who would otherwise pursue a GED choose our adult high school diploma program instead, since the diploma is recognized in all 50 states.
