Future Ready

Future Ready for Grades 6–12. Fully Online. Made for What's Next.

Programs built to prepare learners for the future. Future Ready is Excel High School's fully online educational option serving students in grades 6–12 — a comprehensive middle school, a genuine high school diploma, and authentic career exploration tailored to your student's starting point.

What Future Ready Is

The core philosophy behind Future Ready is that our schools should prepare students for their future, wherever that future may lie.

That means middle school is the time for exploring what's out there, not deciding on a career path. That means high school students should be able to make a meaningful choice from one of the five Texas endorsement areas, on a true Distinguished diploma plan. And that means all of those options delivered online, on your student's schedule, with wrap-around support to ensure they succeed.

Future Ready Middle School and Future Ready High School stand independently complete. A 6th, 7th, or 8th grader could enter Future Ready Middle School and graduate out of Future Ready High School with a running start. A 9th, 10th, 11th, or 12th grader could enter Future Ready High School and graduate with a complete diploma. The majority of Future Ready students enter in high school. Some enter earlier. Both methods are successful.

Two Programs. Same Promise.

Future Ready Middle School

Grades 6–8

A solid academic foundation. Genuine career experiences. Meaningful direction.

Middle school is where inquisitiveness is guided. Your student carries a full academic course load aligned with grade-level standards and is introduced to the career fields that the five high school endorsement areas will later be organized around. They explore. They sample. They begin to see the match for their interests.

What Future Ready Middle School provides:

  • A comprehensive grades 6–8 academic program geared toward high school preparation.
  • Career exposure tied to the five areas of endorsement so that 8th graders transition into high school with direction.
  • Designed for families requiring flexibility — delivered fully asynchronously.
  • Weekly progress reports available to families on the parent portal.
  • Middle school-appropriate, safety-first design.

Future Ready High School

Grades 9–12

A complete diploma, five endorsement categories, and two graduation options.

High school is where the work gets serious. Your student graduates with a high school diploma and an endorsement in one of the five Texas education and career categories. Your family has a choice between two diploma plans: the 22-credit foundation plan or the 26-credit endorsement plan, which qualifies students for admission to Texas universities under the Top 10% law.

The five endorsement areas:

  • STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) — includes our AI Innovators programming
  • Business and Industry
  • Public Services
  • Fine Arts and Liberal Arts
  • Multidisciplinary Studies

Enrollment is open to all grade levels, 9 through 12. Credit transfers are assessed on an individual basis. A Texas Advisor will work with your family to review your student's completed coursework and future requirements.

How Future Ready Works

Fully online and fully asynchronous.

Your student connects at their convenience. No scheduled class periods. No driving. No school day to coordinate with the family's schedule.

Personalized support, every step of the way.

Each Future Ready student is assigned a dedicated Success Coach who knows your student by name and assists them throughout the year — pacing, motivation, course navigation, and any challenges along the way.

Not just classes. Real career exposure.

Future Ready includes career exposure as part of the program, not an afterthought. Middle school students sample widely. High school students choose an endorsement and go deep.

A diploma that means something.

Future Ready High School graduates earn a genuine, accredited high school diploma — offered at two levels to meet various family goals and student paths.
