About the course
Course Overview
Explorations in Business and Marketing introduces middle school students to the dynamic world of entrepreneurship, marketing strategy, and personal financial literacy. Designed for grades 6–8, this self paced online course helps learners understand how businesses are created, how products and services reach customers, and how smart money management supports long term success.
Throughout the course, students explore how entrepreneurs identify problems, recognize opportunities, and create solutions that deliver value. They learn to define target customers, develop clear value propositions, and design effective marketing campaigns. Using authentic business scenarios, students examine branding, pricing, promotion, and customer engagement, making abstract concepts practical and relevant.
In addition to business fundamentals, the course builds essential financial literacy skills. Students practice creating simple budgets, explore how credit works, and learn the basics of saving, spending, and responsible financial decision making. These foundational money management skills empower students to think critically about both personal and business finances.
As the course progresses, students apply what they have learned by developing a basic business plan. The experience culminates in a business pitch presentation where students share their ideas, explain their revenue models, and demonstrate how their product or service meets customer needs. By the end of the course, students will have strengthened their creativity, communication, and problem solving skills while gaining a practical introduction to business and marketing in the real world.
