Course Overview
Dedicated to creating effective and adaptable readers and writers, Honors American Literature builds on the previous foundational Excel High School English courses. This course is sequenced using major milestones in American history which influenced American authors. Utilizing classic American literature in the form of fiction, nonfiction, poetry, and drama, students will master literary-analysis techniques to maximize comprehension of the selected readings. In addition, written language tasks are provided to help guide students to produce organized essays which showcase their ability to effectively communicate their ideas in writing.
